There can be several causes
- u-boot hdmimode != display_mode_default (in dtb)
- defective HDMI cable
- Old TV set, resolution only = <720p
...
...

If this is the first point, this will be fixed with the update.

I personally used the V3-SHMOD version after bricking my H96 PRO+ device before.

I would recommend using the most recent date version of stock firmware, and then if you do have problems, precede by rolling back to older ones if that doesn't work.
