Dear guys I ordered S905x but received S905L. According to several sources the s905L soc comes without VP9 but with HDCPv2. Is it possible to flash S905x fw?

Kind regards

Different chip is different DTB, Bootloader, and Kernel. So, my answer would be NO the S905x firmware will not work without modification. If you change those parts of the firmware then maybe it will load.

if you use original bootloader and dtb for it, it should work. Post PCB photos and uart log

Could be a problem flashing wrong fw since it is BGA board. Pins not reachable...

2nd: I do not own manufacturer fw img. But I read it was possible to backup bootloader, dtb and stuff through terminal while Android is running. Anyone tried this?

that does not look so bad, uart pins are already available. You now need to connect a uart adapter to see how the boot sequence changes if any pin short on GND

only if your device is rooted, otherwise only booting another OS from an SDcard/uDisk, or uart

Device is not prerooted! Overall not good performance....

Is it difficult to save dtb, bootloader and stuff through terminal? Maybe good tutorial for the guides' section here? ;)
