Yes, you can use any random remote with any android box, as long you have the right remote (configuration) file present in the firmware.
You can even use multiple remotes, if your box is running with Oreo or PIE android version.

Copy remote.tab file (search in the forum) of x96 mini to your box #/vendor/etc directory.
