Suggestion:
Use an Apk to remap your remote keys. My personal favorite is "Button Mapper" by flar2, linked above, can be download from Google Play Store forks like https://apkmirror.com

Examples of how I use that apk with my remotes:
1) Home Key: single press is Home, double press is Recents, long-press is Power Menu
2) Menu/Recents Key: single press Menu, double press Recents, long-press opens EsFile Explorer
3) Back Key: single press is back, double press is back, long-press is Kill foreground app.
4) Mute Key: single press is mute, double press is mute, long-press is Screenshot.
