No, the devs need actual driver source code, existing drivers are not enough, already explained here.

I tried a lot of times, no way. only one 7.1.2 rom working. I thought maybe a mac issue too... it locks at 02-00-00.... don't know how to reassign it. 8723 hw looks the same of 8703. is there a way to let the box recognize 8703 and load 8723 drivers?

The best alternative I found to solve this problem is to connect the tv box through the ethernet port. It works very well.
If you flashed your tv box with AtvX V4, you have probably found that you cannot start in download mode. The readme file of the rom mentions that it is necessary to reboot in this mode from the system in order to update it or install other firmware. But this is not possible to do because you cannot bypass the Google account settings with the device. The ideal is to have the tv box, the tv and the internet router in the same place, to be able to make the connection by ethernet cable. If you have the router away from the tv and the tv box, try to get a Wifi repeater that has an output from that port.

The downside is that bluetooth does not work but some experiences can be replaced with a wireless control device like a wireless mouse or mini keyboard with bluetooth dongle.
I have also not managed to get chromecast to work.
But the experience with those named devices is very good.
Everything the rom offers compensates for these issues.
