Yeah, I'm never touching a cpu again, they are too sensitiveMeakai wrote: βTue Mar 12, 2019 4:40 pmDamn, that's really bad.
I wish we could sell it for parts, but...
Well now others will know that they will have to be extremely careful when playing around with the heatsinks on these things. I usually just slide a thin knife between the processor and heatsink, never applied heat to soften the glue. Next time I will try using a razor and a blow dryer.
Thanks for your experiments.

Not a couple second, more than that. But you have to heat the oven slowly and gradually. Check for reflow oven in google. I once tryed with a amlogic tablet and a oven toaster. It fixed my video output problem that likely had broken soldering point but burn the microphone diagrphram. It was ok with me since I prefered the hdmi output over the mic. But you want to do it with a toaster oven you wont use anymore for cooking because of the chemical released. The best it's still to use a hot air soldering station and only heat the needed part and protect the other parts. A lot of video tutorial on youtube that explain how to reflow a cpu on a laptop mobo (same process than for a tv box).Meakai wrote: βSat Mar 09, 2019 11:01 pm I have an A95X 1g/8g that was giving the "no hdmi signal" issue. This happened after I removed the heatsink. I remember applying pressure to the processor got it working.
One night, out of sheer frustration, I slammed it down on a table so hard, it refused to come back on.
Never thought about keeping constant pressure on the processor though.
This sounds like the processor is not soldered properly and I wonder if a couple seconds in an oven would help.

Released chemicals?
Thanks for that info. I will keep that in mind.
Problem is the toaster oven costs more than the box and is a long way from being discarded.
What if the box is placed in sealed zip lock bag?

You can give a try with a heat gun (used to stripped paint - maube your neighbor has one ). You can place an aluminium over your board with a hole exactly where you want to heat.
*** it is also important to put some flux over your chipset***
